The church stared off as a
Sunday School in 1959, the average attendence was about 30. In Decemeber
1963, it was officially known as Bukit Panjang Goespel Chapel
Our Late elder Tommy Cheong
was seconded from Bethesda Hall (Bras Basah) to help in the work
here in October 1965. Sunday Service began in the following year
with the transfer of the Chinese Assembly from
Woodlands Road to here.The
first English Service as held on February 1967 with about 20 believers.The
church became autonomous on 1st Juuly 1969.
The church was gutted by fire
on 28 February 1972. A tent was erected for our Services whilst
it was under construction. It was a day of recjoicing when we met
to give thanks and dedicate the new building to the Lord on 24 November
1973. The church was again renovated to add an extension in May
1982.
The church was incoporated
as a public company limited by guarantee on 16 October 1987. In
june 1988, another extension was built; the church remained that
way since then. At present, we have an average adult attendence
of about 220.
